Why Fight the War

I agree with comments Bennett makes in his article “Why We Fight”. I also agree with Aquinas three main criteria for determining if one could initiate war. The three reasons were: whether war is declared by a legitimate sovereign; whether it is for a just cause (avenges wrongs or rights an injustice); and whether the belligerents “intend the advancement of good, or avoidance of evil”. I think that if a country is going to go to war for either of these reasons than it is okay. For example, when September 11th happened a lot of Americans wanted to go to war to get back at those who harmed us. So the war against terrorism was just back then, but I think that know, so many years later it needs to end. I know that many other people would agree with me when I say that. I also agree with the fact that they should not harm prisoner of war. The also shouldn’t harm innocent citizens. Finally I agree with the fact that in some cases if no action is taken, that evil may expand. Such as in Darfur nothing is being done to stop the genocide, so it is getting worse.
